Veterinary Rehabilitation (or Pet Rehab) is a field of veterinary medicine which is used to improve your pets physical recovery, fitness and mobility. It can also be used to aid in weight loss and athletic conditioning. Much of the focus is on strength, mobility, fitness and overall wellbeing.
Function is the primary goal of treatment and therapies are centered on optimising movement and obtaining the best quality of life for your pet.
Treatment options vary depending on your pets conditions and will always be tailor made for your pet.
Where to start
Choose the appointment that best suits your pet’s needs.
REHABILITATION & RECOVERY
Initial Rehabilitation Assessment
For pets with an existing medical condition, arthritis, injury, pain, mobility concern or surgical history.
Your pet’s first appointment is with one of our rehabilitation veterinarians, who will assess their movement, comfort and individual needs before developing a personalised rehabilitation plan.
Treatments such as hydrotherapy, laser therapy, acupuncture and biomechanical medicine are then built into their ongoing program where appropriate.
We send information about your pet’s treatments back to your regular vet, so everyone stays informed.
FITNESS & CONDITIONING
Initial Hydrotherapy Session
For pets without existing medical, injury or mobility concerns who are coming to Rebound for fitness, conditioning, muscle building, weight management or sporting performance.
Your pet’s first session is up to 45-minutes with our hydrotherapist and includes a movement and muscle assessment, a gentle introduction to the underwater treadmill and plenty of time to build confidence.
If a medical or mobility concern comes up during the session, we’ll recommend a rehabilitation assessment before continuing.
The therapies we build a plan from
A rehabilitation plan usually combines manual therapy and exercise with one or more of the treatments below.
Which ones your pet receives, and in what order, is decided at the assessment — and adjusted as they progress.
2
Laser Therapy
Targeted laser therapy to relieve pain, reduce inflammation and support tissue healing.
4
Biomechanical Medicine
Hands-on assessment and treatment to improve joint, muscle and movement function.
Your pet's first assessment
An in-depth evaluation, in four parts. Expect to spend the appointment talking as much as we spend examining.
Whole-body exam
We examine your pet’s entire body. Often we find other areas of pain or soft-tissue abnormality that need treating alongside the primary problem.

Measured, not guessed
Comprehensive measurements to precisely record the range of motion of the joints and muscle circumference are used to objectively evaluate progress and ensure that your pet is responding to treatment.
Treatment does not finish at your visit. Your Pet Rehab veterinarian will discuss home exercises with you, always adjusted to fit your routine at home and what you feel comfortable doing with your pet.
